Frequently Asked Questions

  • What services do you offer?

I offer photography services to the west side of the Cleveland area and Tuscarawas County. Please browse the Investment page for different package options.

    Will you shoot my wedding?

I am honored that you’d consider me to capture your special day, but at this time, I do not offer wedding services. However, my Rose package was designed specifically with bridal sessions in mind. These sessions are typically scheduled near or soon after your wedding day and are intended to provide more stylized formal portraits that you maybe would not have time for on your wedding day. This type of portrait session is for brides and/or grooms only.

    Do you photograph LGBTQIA+ couples?

Of course! All couples are welcome, regardless of orientation, race, gender, or ability. I welcome the addition to my portfolio!

    When do you shoot?

Typically, my availability will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the evenings. I will also have select morning availability. Outdoor photos are best taken in the mornings and evenings. I may offer select weekends. Photos take much more time to edit than shoot, so my availability will typically only provide for a maximum of two shoots per week, so make sure you inquire early!

    Do you have a studio?

I do not currently have a studio, (maybe someday!) but I am adept at shooting indoor locations. If you desire an indoor location for your shoot, make sure you look into the venue. As the client, you are responsible for securing any photography passes and paying any additional fees.

Why don’t you photograph weddings, events, or family reunions?

There are a couple of reasons for this. Mainly, different photographers prefer different subjects. I enjoy portraiture and am dedicated to honing my craft in that particular niche. If you need an event photographer, I am happy to give you recommendations!

What happens if we have to reschedule?

Please make sure to read your contract thoroughly; it will have all the information you need for these situations. I will not photograph in unsafe conditions (any kind of weather warning), below freezing, or above 100 degrees with heat index.

    Can I call you?

Often, questions and requests are best communicated via e-mail, because it gives me a record of our conversations, which protects us both. Of course, there are times where a phone call is the correct course of communication, and in those cases, I will absolutely reach out.

I e-mailed you two hours ago and you haven’t answered! What’s up with that?

While I strive to provide great customer service, it is not always possible for me to be able to answer inquiries and requests immediately. In order to maintain a good work-life balance, my “office hours” will be enforced to resemble a M-F, 9-5 availability. If it’s an emergency, or I know you have a session within the next couple of days, I’ll be sure to get back with you as quickly as possible. I really appreciate your patience and understanding.

  • Why do I have to sign a contract?

All clients will have to read and sign a contract before booking. This contract is in place to protect both you and me and provide you with all information you will need in case of different scenarios. You will know what you can expect from me and what is expected of you as a client. Requiring a contract for services is expected from any responsible photographer.

What if I want to change the contract?

My contracts have been carefully crafted to protect both you and me. Because of this, I, unfortunately, will not consider any additions or alterations to the contract.

Why do you need a retainer?

I require a 25% non-refundable retainer fee to reserve your photoshoot date. This is to respect your time, other clients’ time, and my own. That retainer is transferrable should a reschedule be necessary.

Why do I have to pay for my session up-front?

Again, this is to protect both you and me. By requiring the remainder of the session fee before the shoot begins, I can ensure I am compensated for my time and skill, and you can ensure that you will receive the finished product. This type of payment is the industry standard. If you require a payment plan, please feel free to reach out.

Why do photos cost so much money?

When you pay for a session, you are not just paying for the hour you spend with me. You are also paying for many hours of carefully culling and editing images. Photography is a luxury service, and it takes a lot of time (and to be honest, money) to make that art happen. That being said, there are photographers at every budget. Do your research and find the photographer and budget that is best for you and your family.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept credit card payments through my website.

    Do you accept payment plans?

Payment in full is due before any work on your shoot (including the shoot itself) can begin and is due by the date of your shoot. If you choose to book well enough in advanced, we can set up options for you to pay in installments for ease of access.

Why do I have to pay tax?

Because this is a service that culminates in a product, I am required to collect sales tax.

What if I don’t like my photos? Can I get a refund?

I certainly hope you love your photos! Sometimes we can be our own worst critics. If there is something legitimately wrong with your photos (out of focus, number of images delivered, or otherwise unusable), we can discuss potential options for reshoots or refunds. This is noted in your contract. Because of the time and effort put into services. full refunds are not considered except in cases where services were not rendered.

    Will you have sales?

Keep in touch with me on instagram (@amandajoycecreative) to see when I have special offers. Sometimes I will offer model sessions (discounted sessions in exchange for particular sessions, outfits, purposes, etc.) or the occasional discount code. However, I am not able to offer discounts on a regular basis. Depending on your situation, we may be able to tailor a session to fit your budget needs.

  • Do my photos have to be displayed on your website or social media?

When you book with me, your contract will include a section about the release of images for web and social media use. Your privacy is important — you are under absolutely no obligation to allow me to share your images publicly. We can arrange for your images to only be accessible to yourself.

Will you give me the unedited/ raw images?

    Short answer: no.

Long answer: I will take hundreds (sometimes thousands) of photos during your session, and trust me, not all of them will be beautiful. I provide you with the best of the best images from your session. Part of your investment in my services includes my culling and editing process. I strive to provide photos that accurately represent the work in my portfolio. Unedited photos are only a small part of a finished product and do not accurately represent my work. For this reason, it is the industry standard to abstain from providing “raw” and unedited photos.

    But what do I wear??

When you book your session, part of what your session includes coordinating your vision with me, so I can help you figure out the best way to complement your surroundings and your loved ones. In general, you should wear outfits that make you feel comfortable and confident. Generally, you will want to avoid distracting or complicated patterns, but your clothing should be reflective of your personality. For shoots with more than one person, I highly recommend approaching with the idea of coordinating rather than matching. Pick the tones you want, and go from there. Pinterest is fantastic for outfit inspiration.

Can I bring my fur baby to my session?

I love pets! Fur babies are generally welcome in session. If your pet will not be in every photo, you will need to have an additional adult present with you to take care of your pet during the remainder of your session. Keep in mind that I cannot control your floofy pet, so results may vary.
